It has been so hard to not share these images! I had a vision and I really, really wanted to grab a photo of Katie in her beautiful bridal gown on the carousel. I had to get special permission from Pullen Park to use the carousel, but once you scroll down, I think you’ll agree it was worth it! A huge thanks to those at Pullen Park’s Parks & Rec for allowing these shots happen, and to Katie for being adventurous about jumping up on the horse in her gown and trusting my vision.
Did you know that the Pullen Park carousel turned 100 years old this year? The anniversary date was actually two days after our session. How neat is that? Pullen Park was the first public park in the state, and it’s the fifth oldest operating amusement park in the country. The beautiful carousel was made by internationally-renowned German artist Gustav Dentzel, who crafted it in around 1900.
After we took the unique carousel shots, we walked around the rest of the park and captured more bridal shots of Katie. Katie’s dad passed away a few years ago, and I think it’s incredibly sweet that she brought a photo of the two of them to incorporate into her photos. You may also notice a yellow rose in her bouquet; this is something that I did in memory of my dad and suggested it to Katie. I loved having a small reminder of my dad that I carried with me on the day of my wedding.
